At Centennial College’s Occupational Therapist Assistant & Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA & PTA) program, you’ll learn to support people whose ability to function and adapt has been impaired or compromised due to injury, illness, or conditions affecting participation in daily activities. Through training in this health care diploma program, which will consist of current theoretical knowledge and practical experiences, you’ll develop competencies to become a compassionate, client-centred and reflective rehabilitation practitioner who will be prepared with the knowledge and skills to work in the dynamic health care field.

The faculty members of this college health care program are experienced occupational therapists and physiotherapists working in their field of expertise, and will ensure you’ll have the educational tools, training and hands-on experience necessary to meet career challenges with enthusiasm, professionalism, and current evidence-based industry knowledge and skills. Centennial College has grown rapidly over the past several years, and demand for student housing outgrew the capacity of our older facility on Progress Avenue. Knowing that a lack of access to a residence is an impediment for students from outside the GTA, Centennial constructed the eight-storey Centennial Residence and Culinary Arts Centre at its Progress Campus. The striking new building takes the shape of a quadrangle with a central courtyard to allow natural light to reach all of the residence rooms. Housing up to 740 students in two- and four-bedroom arrangements, each suite includes its own kitchen and bathroom. Students also have access to communal kitchens and lounge spaces for larger social gatherings. Every resident has his or her own bedroom. For first year students, orientation activities for both academic and Centennial College Student Association programs, and personalized success plans are provided for you. You are also encouraged to take advantage of our free ‘success skills’ workshops offered throughout the year. Peer mentors and International advisors are also available at every campus to help you transition to life in Canada, and at Centennial.

Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:*	These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. Grade12 English Grade11 Biology Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or mature student status (19 years or older) Grade 12 English (C or U), or equivalent (minimum grade required), or take the Centennial College English Skills Assessment for Admission Grade 11 Biology (C or U) or Grade 12 (C or U), or Exercise Science (minimum grade required), or equivalent
Additional Admission Requirements:	After admission but prior to each program clinical fieldwork placement, students are required to: Obtain a clear police check with vulnerable sector screening. Vulnerable Sector Screenings must be issued within six months of each placement start date. Any previous criminal record must be pardoned. Successfully complete and annually renew a recognized course in CPR (Basic Lifesaver Level) Successfully complete a recognized course in standard first aid Mask fit testing will be provided by Centennial College (shaving a portion of facial hair may be required to meet safety standards) Obtain pre-clearance health form completed by a physician or nurse practitioner stating that the student meets the health requirements of legislated acts, ministry guidelines and agency policies. This includes updating and maintaining your immunization records throughout the program. COVID vaccination is highly recommended and may be a requirement at all placement sites. All of the above requirements must be in effect for the duration of each placement.
