Description: Students will learn how to design arts educational programming that is pedagogically sound and that meets the needs of diverse communities. Students will apply best practices of community arts work and will be trained to facilitate arts-based social justice initiatives. Students will also learn about a variety of careers in arts education and community development engagement through research, mentorship, and field placements. Graduates of this program will be equipped to manage a professional career in arts and learning, and to incorporate community-engaged arts work into their existing creative practice.

By modelling innovative pedagogy, this program teaches students to innovate for themselves. By partnering with leading arts organizations, this program facilitates connections and opportunities within the sector. By emphasizing global citizenship, social justice, and cultural competency, this program helps students locate these concerns at the heart of their creative and educational practice.

Admission Requirements

Completion of a diploma or degree in an artistic fieldWe will also consider applicants with partial post-secondary education and substantial history of artistic practice (at least 5 years), involving some work in arts education and/or community development.
Additional Admission Requirements: English language proficiency

  • Complete an onsite questionnaire to assess knowledge of the field and personal goals/outcomes for the program
  • Submit a portfolio that accurately reflects your artistic practice

On Campus Housing

Centennial College has grown rapidly over the past several years, and demand for student housing outgrew the capacity of our older facility on Progress Avenue. Knowing that a lack of access to a residence is an impediment for students from outside the GTA, Centennial constructed the eight-storey Centennial Residence and Culinary Arts Centre at its Progress Campus. The striking new building takes the shape of a quadrangle with a central courtyard to allow natural light to reach all of the residence rooms. Housing up to 740 students in two- and four-bedroom arrangements, each suite includes its own kitchen and bathroom. Students also have access to communal kitchens and lounge spaces for larger social gatherings. Every resident has his or her own bedroom. Off Campus Housing

The Centennial College Student Association Inc. (CCSAI) partners with an off-campus housing service company called Places4Students Inc. For first year students, orientation activities for both academic and Centennial College Student Association programs, and personalized success plans are provided for you. You are also encouraged to take advantage of our free ‘success skills’ workshops offered throughout the year. Peer mentors and International advisors are also available at every campus to help you transition to life in Canada, and at Centennial.

ACCESS STUDENT FINANCIAL SERVICES

Students can now submit inquiries and documents directly to Student Financial Services via CASS – Centennial Access to Student Services form. The queue will streamline student inquiries and document uploads related to scholarships and bursaries, the Ontario Student Assistance Program, tuition deposit waivers, promissory notes and more. The efficiency will allow us to enhance how we support students’ financial needs.
