Description: Start your career in welding, by learning entry-level welding of metals in the repair, maintenance, fabricating or manufacturing of equipment and objects in the 12 week Welder Pre-Employment program. If you are interested in entering the workforce, performing basic welding tasks, or creating works of art – this is the place to start!

Learn how to join or sever metals, make parts used in construction and manufacturing plants and create fabricate parts, tools, machines and equipment. Instructed by licensed Journeyperson faculty and industry experts, you will gain hands-on skills in the industry while earning your education as a Welder.

Our Career Services Office provides extensive services to students including career fairs, resume-writing and interview skills workshops and an online job board. The Broncos Athletics program competes in 8 different sports in the Alberta Collegiate Athletics Conference (ACAC). A variety of clubs are also supported by the SAOC.

Olds College is situated on traditional Treaty Seven Territory. We have developed two new spaces to enhance our indigenous students’ experience at Olds College: The Olds College Indigenous Centre gathering place and a traditional Blackfoot tipi. Olds College Health & Wellness provides free and confidential services to support students.

Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:* These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
Meet the English Language Proficiency Requirement
16 years of age or older upon completion of the program.
Completion of Grade 10. Please refer to the Alberta Apprenticeship & Industry Training Board Trade Entrance Requirements.
Test Scores:
  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 60] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 80] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 550]
Application Notes : Academic Upgrading and High School Applicants: Applicants currently in high school or who are completing academic upgrading must submit proof of enrollment and any available interim/midterm marks. Final marks must be submitted within one month following the completion of the course(s) and no later than one month prior to the program start date.
