Description: Introducing maintenance of a wide variety of equipment including trucks and trailers, off-road, and earthmoving equipment, this program will set you up for entry level positions in the heavy equipment industry. You will learn basic diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of heavy equipment, workplace safety, and gain an understanding of suspensions, wheels, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

With our experienced industry trained instructors, you will receive an education placing you at the forefront of the technical curve with discipline specific labs and extensive tool room. This program is the equivalent to the technical training of first year apprenticeship.

The Broncos Athletics program competes in 8 different sports in the Alberta Collegiate Athletics Conference (ACAC). A variety of clubs are also supported by the SAOC.

Olds College is situated on traditional Treaty Seven Territory. We have developed two new spaces to enhance our indigenous students’ experience at Olds College: The Olds College Indigenous Centre gathering place and a traditional Blackfoot tipi. Olds College Health & Wellness provides free and confidential services to support students.

Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:* These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
Completion of Grade 11. Please refer to the Alberta Apprenticeship & Industry Training Board Trade Entrance Requirements.
Meet the English Language Proficiency Requirement

Test Scores:
  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 60] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 80] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 550]
Application Notes : Minimum of 18 years of age upon completion of the program.
Additional Admission Requirements: Academic Upgrading and High School Applicants: Applicants currently in high school or who are completing academic upgrading must submit proof of enrollment and any available interim/midterm marks. Final marks must be submitted within one month following the completion of the course(s) and no later than one month prior to the program start date.

Alternate Admission Option: Alternate Admission status may be offered to applicants who have not or will not complete one of the academic admission requirements. Please see the website for details.
